A. If a person is going to be out of town on election day or is physically unable to go to the polling place they can vote by absentee ballot. Basically the person casts a paper ballot and mails it in so that it's postmarked by election day and received within a week. Different states have different rules on absentee balloting. In New York if you vote absentee and someone sees you in town your ballot could be challenged and thrown out.

A. Re register as an absentee voter. They will send you the ballot before the election. Fill it out and mail it back. They'll open it and count it on election day.

Why Don't People Do Absentee Voting?
Q. How come more people don't do absentee voting? With such long lines at polling places, it seems easier to just request the absentee ballot and send it in. Is there some reason why people don't do that?

A. There are better odds that your vote will be counted if you vote in person in many states! If you live in a state with a Republican in charge of Elections you better live in a white suburban neighborhood. So far there has been over 10 million voters purged from the voter rolls without pre-notification. These are often 30 year voters that were erased because there is someone with their same name. If you vote in person early you can often get it cleared up. In Colorado they have erased 19% of the voters who will not be able to vote when they show up today. Besides, many people are proud to go to the polls and cast their vote. Many are taking the day off. It is one of the most essentially patriotic things you can do!

Since absentee voting is now on-going, and there hasn't been a debate, aren't these people jumping the gun?
Q. I mean...wouldn't you at least like to hear one debate before voting?
Asked by Open Your Eyes - Thu Sep 25 12:47:49 2008 - - 27 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Oh I think it's just because people won't be able to make it to the polls like college students for example. But they are jumping the gun because the last minute commercials and campaign statements are when the truth comes out. I am mainly Republican but even Bush and McCain right now are liars to the American people. There are lot of other things I don't like the McCain is doing and what's funny is Palin and McCain disagree on somethings like with energy issues. They just won't come out and say it. I don't support the war either. My mind isn't made up yet honestly. America is that bad right now.

How do I start voting using an "Absentee Ballot"?
Q. I just read this article by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He points out that some of the voting machines as well as the counting are in the complete control of private businesses. Also, some voting machine companies like the new "Diebold" were contracted by Congress, even though they submitted the highest bid. Sounds like "Halliburton" all over again. source Fresh disasters at the polls -- and new evidence from an industry insider -- prove that electronic voting machines can't be trusted robert f. kennedy jr.
Asked by Joe_Pardy - Thu Oct 12 23:18:46 2006 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Most electronic voting machines are very secure & reliable, but if your uncomfortable with them go ahead and vote paper. The procedure varys from state to state, but most of the time you can either ask to vote on a paper ballot at the polls or send a written request to your local election office to vote by mail. Some states will only allow voting by mail under certain conditions, such as being out of the county on election day, over 65, or disabled. Check with your local election office for the guidelines in your state.

What proportion of those voting for Hillary Clinton in the New Hampshire primary, did so by "absentee ballot"?
Q. I read on Justin Webb's (The BBC Correspondent) blog, that the Clinton election machine got thousands of (especially elderly) voters to fill in absentee ballot papers, in her favour, prior to election day "in case the weather's bad, and you can't get out to vote". She's apparently doing this all over the US. Could this be why the pollsters got it so wrong in NH?

But if Palin persistently confesses proudly that she knows nothing about the Bush Doctrine - she could probably get me to vote for McCain. The Bush Doctrine is not worth knowing. Include: * Name of voter * Residential Address of voter * Mailing Address of voter (if different from residential address) * Date of Birth of voter * Signature of voter Then mail it to your county board of elections so it arrives by October 28, 2008. Find the address for your county here: It'll be okay. Glad you're voting!

Why is the Ohio Republican Party Trying to Block Registering for Absentee Voting between Sept. 30 and Oct 6th?
Q. That's when the Registration period overlaps. Bet you haven't read THAT in the news ... but it's 100% true. A. Yeah I agree, that's pretty sneaky if you ask me. The Republicans are aware that Ohio needs to be a clear win for them, and with alot of new democratic registrations they are very scared. They always try and pull something slick under our eyes (Remember back in flordia in the Gore election). Obama will win this election, but I can guarantee you that we will see more of these 'desperate' poll tactics now until November 4th. Call your news station, report it and make sure that action is taken on the voters behalf.
