Dems how will Obama beat McCain with his unsavory absentee voting record?
Q. Isn't it more likely that McCain will rip him to shreds on his voting record whereas he will have a harder time demonizing Hillarys record? Isn't this the real reason they keep saying (in public) they want to debate Hillary is because they actually want you to think they dread Obama when he's the one they really want.

A. If a senator votes present it doesnt mean "i'm scared" it means "i hear your argument" that gives the oppurtunity to think more, and make changes like add something to a bill or take a portion away from the bill look at the big issue right now with the Tax Rebate Stimulus plan alot of senators want to add incentives and alot of senators want to take stuff out so they don't tottally agree or disagree. senators make alot of decisions it's idiotic to think that they will never say "Maybe" or "it needs to be Modified"

A. You vote with an absentee ballot by mail and the ballot must be requested several weeks before of the election. Early voting is voting in person at designated polling places in your city or town before the election day. In most states, early voting is over.

Why Don't People Do Absentee Voting?
Q. How come more people don't do absentee voting? With such long lines at polling places, it seems easier to just request the absentee ballot and send it in. Is there some reason why people don't do that?
Asked by Alex H - Tue Nov 4 03:25:11 2008 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. There are better odds that your vote will be counted if you vote in person in many states! If you live in a state with a Republican in charge of Elections you better live in a white suburban neighborhood. So far there has been over 10 million voters purged from the voter rolls without pre-notification. These are often 30 year voters that were erased because there is someone with their same name. If you vote in person early you can often get it cleared up. In Colorado they have erased 19% of the voters who will not be able to vote when they show up today. Besides, many people are proud to go to the polls and cast their vote. Many are taking the day off. It is one of the most essentially patriotic things you can do!

US election '08 - Absentee Ballot Alabama: voting instructions unclear?
Q. I have an absentee ballot for the state of Alabama, but no instructions of how to vote. My questions are: 1) By choosing "straight party voting" do i not have to fill in ANY of the other boxes? 2) What about the questions on "constitutional amendments" on the back of the ballot. Do i have to fill these in to make the ballot valid? Or are they also covered by the "straight party vote" option? Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Zarba
Asked by zarba - Thu Oct 9 08:08:38 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. 1. That is correct. If you vote straight party ticket, you don't fill in any of the boxes. 2. Consititutional amendments do not follow a party line. You can vote or not vote for 1 or more or all of them. The ballot will still be valid.

A. These ballots are typically mailed out according to when you made the request, so you may be waiting until that final week in October for the ballot. Contact your county board of elections just to make sure you will be receiving the ballot (you never know, your application may be lost in the mail)

Should voting be required by law? An absentee ballot could be filled out at tax time. What are the pros/cons??
Q. Sorry for posting in Philosophy, but the answers seem to be better. Suppose the ballot allowed you to choose not to vote simply by checking a box.

A. I think that requiring that every citizen voted would be a bad idea. First of all, there are hundreds of thousands of people in the United States (I am assuming we are talking about the US) who do not care at all about politics. They would be casting votes for people just to cast votes. Plus, there is no freedom in it if it's compulsory.

Include: * Name of voter * Residential Address of voter * Mailing Address of voter (if different from residential address) * Date of Birth of voter * Signature of voter Then mail it to your county board of elections so it arrives by October 28, 2008. Find the address for your county here: It'll be okay. Glad you're voting!

Why is the Ohio Republican Party Trying to Block Registering for Absentee Voting between Sept. 30 and Oct 6th?
Q. That's when the Registration period overlaps. Bet you haven't read THAT in the news ... but it's 100% true. Not Informing EVERYONE, is just plain WRONG! What say you?!!! If I had a Link, I'd post it. Believe me, when I do, I will !!!

A. Yeah I agree, that's pretty sneaky if you ask me. The Republicans are aware that Ohio needs to be a clear win for them, and with alot of new democratic registrations they are very scared. They always try and pull something slick under our eyes (Remember back in flordia in the Gore election). Obama will win this election, but I can guarantee you that we will see more of these 'desperate' poll tactics now until November 4th. Call your news station, report it and make sure that action is taken on the voters behalf.
